Step back & watch the dance!

The insights that can be taken from observing scenes from afar amazes me A slight shift in awareness opens up the big picture allowing all the intricate details to emerge, building upon each other, creating our experience.

This was so apparent to me this afternoon when I sat in front of my window and looked out at the frozen, glistening lake. The frigid air warmed with the setting sun displayed vibrant hues of orange, pink and purple. From a distance, I could see a dark silhouette gracefully gliding across the ice. It was majestic to watch as the skater spun and dipped, dancing on the frozen dance floor. But that wasn’t enough for me, I wanted to see this silhouette up close, I wanted the details. As I began fumbling for the binoculars, the beauty in the moment was skating away. When I returned to the window, I began to struggle, trying to scan the lake and find the dancer. Frustration set in, the trees were now closer than my nose and obstructed my view. It was as if I put a frame on the picture and it blacked out the beauty. I couldn’t see anything but tree limbs and ice. I eventually did find the skater through the magnetized lenses but that is only thing I saw. The mountain, the sunset and the glistening ice had disappeared.

I can equate this experience to so many scenes unfolding in my life right now. Often I find myself digging deep into the situation, pulling it apart and fumbling to put it back together. Trying to form what I think I need to see.

Stepping back and watching each detail gracefully come together allows the dance of life to blend one day at a time, all in Divine order with Divine timing, not mine!
